Netball for complete beginners
Never played before? That is completely fine. Our Wednesday sessions in Sidcup are planned so beginners and keen players join in together, and the first one is free.
Built for first-timers
No experience needed, just a willingness to give it a go.
Everyone joins in
Warm-up games, simple skills and small-sided team play mean every player is involved from the first minute.
Their own pace
Players progress at their own speed, with coaches who make every session accessible and enjoyable.
Fun first
Confidence, friendships and a love of the game matter every bit as much as skills and scorelines.
Free to try
The first session is free, with no pressure to buy a membership afterwards.
How the first session goes
Sessions run on Wednesdays, 5pm to 6pm, in term time. Here is what to expect from booking to the end of the hour.
Book
Fill in the short form on our free trial page. We get in touch to confirm the date of the taster.
Arrive
Come about 5 minutes early. A coach meets you at the door, signs your player in and introduces them to the group.
Play
A 60 minute session of games, skills and team play, with rest breaks along the way.
What to bring
Nothing special is needed for a first session.
- ✓ Supportive trainers with good grip, and socks
- ✓ A full water bottle
- ✓ Comfortable sportswear, such as a skort or shorts and a t-shirt or leggings
- ✓ Long hair tied back, and jewellery left at home
If they want to carry on
Players join on a simple termly basis: £8 a session, paid termly in advance, plus a one-off £14 joining fee that includes a starter goodie bag. Fees and payment details are confirmed at the trial, and there is no obligation to join.
Sessions are outdoors at Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar School until October half term, then indoors at Sidcup Leisure Centre. Both are on Hurst Road in Sidcup.
Holiday camps for beginners
Our netball camps in Sidcup are open to everyone aged 7 to 16, with no membership needed. Beginners are grouped together and taught from the start, and every camp has players trying netball for the first time. Camps run 10am to 3pm at £25 a day, and the next one is on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 October 2026.
Where netball can lead
Netball is one of the most established school sports in the Sidcup area, and most local secondary schools offer it in PE, clubs and fixtures. Sirens gives players a place to keep developing beyond school, in a fun and supportive setting. Lucy's ambition is for the club to grow into an established junior and adult club, competing in local NWK and county leagues.
